Summer Fun!

This summer Andrew and I went to southern California and Parker Arizona (the river) for some fun in the sun. We had a great time visiting family and friends, some of which Leah met for the first time. Andrew was with me the first week and then I stayed an extra week to spend a little extra time with the fam bam. For a two week vacation, it was quite busy and went by way too fast. I was horrible at remembering to take pictures of everything and unfortunately did not get the chance to visit everyone I wanted. So if you are one of those I didn't visit, next time for sure!

Ashley Sattler and Danielle Chilcoat came by to visit. What great girlfriends I have. I just miss them to pieces!
My mom and I spent a day together at the Grove in LA. It was a fun day of shopping and enjoying good eats! We didn't see anyone famous, then again, I probably wouldn't know it if I did. :) Last time I went there I saw Ryan Seacrest. The funny thing about that is I walked right past him and didn't even notice. My friend had to point it out to me. I can be so oblivious!

Lynsey and I got to hang out majority of the time. I am so sad I don't have a recent picture of me and my sisters. I guess that's what happens when you bring kids into the picture, we both forget. Sara was on vacation the whole time I was here, so I was bumbed to have not spent too much time with her. Anywho, this is me with lynsey's little munchkins, Zack and Wes. They are so fun!
Leah and Wes are going to be best little buds!

I was so happy to visit the Kusters while in southern cal. I babysat these girls when Maddie was in the first grade and now she is going to Jr. High, while Megan is going to High School!!! Oh my have they grown into these beautiful young women. It was so nice to see them!

For most of the first week of our vacation we went to the river. Some friends of ours have a house that backs up to the river. They are so kind to invite us every summer. About ten couples are invited (lynsey and chris are one of them) and the guys compete in several events such as wake boarding, resistance pull, obstacle course etc... They call it the "River Olympics". The girls basically relax while enjoying boat rides, jet skis, books and the sun! Although I didn't spend too much time in the sun with a baby we still had a blast! Thank you Ryan and Julie!

So right after I knew I was having a girl I came across this bathing suit at Janie and Jack on clearance for ten dollars, while the cover up was twelve. Now some of you might think this isn't that great of a deal for something your kid will wear only a couple of times, but I thought it was way worth it, especially for the photos! So I had to take a ton to get my money's worth. Besides we were matching! :) I know I am cheesy!
Check out the beautiful quiet view!

This girl loves her dad. I think it is adorable!

Leah's Blessing

Leah Michelle Thompson was blessed on August 1, 2010. Andrew of course did a wonderful job. I wish Leah could have understood him and experience this special ordinance the same way her mom did. This weekend was pretty eventful with all the family that was in town. After the blessing everyone came to our house for some food before many had to hit the road. We had quite the house full, given that there were 13 kids under the age of 6 present, that is not including all the adults. Despite the chaos we had a great time and it was just nice to have everyone under one roof! Thank you everyone for coming, you really made it special! We were so sad to have missed Sean, Garrett, my dad, Jake (Sara's husband) and lynsey with her family, but we understand because they all had good excuses. :)
So sad my dad was not there. We missed him but there is always the next kid! :)

She really did seem more angelic that day. :)

Two Months!!!

So I can't believe my baby is 8 weeks old tomorrow! Just when I think she couldn't possibly get any cuter she does and continues each day. Andrew and I are really enjoying every little "coo" and babble. Her latest and greatest:

-My most favorite is her smiling. She really loves her mom and dad and shows us with the sweetest gummy smile ever! The happiest time of the day is in the morning after she wakes up. I have the hardest time waking up in the morning, but if waking up means I get to see her smile then I have no problem doing it!

- Leah also follows (with her eyes) her mom and dad as they enter and exit a room. I especially love this because now I know she is truly cognizant of my presence.

- And finally, Leah is starting to talk. We have full conversations now and it isn't just me with my high pitched voice.

She seems to grow each day and I never realized how much I would enjoy watching her do so. I am really beginning to see the love my Heavenly Father has for me by sending us our little Leah!

Goodbye May

So this last month has been pretty eventful for Andrew and I. The main events, moving and the birth of our first child. Two weeks prior to the arrival of Leah we moved out of our apartment. As you can all assume this was no easy task being eight and a half months pregnant. It really did take a toll on my body. Although it was fun being pregnant those last few weeks while I got to feel baby Leah inside me, it is much more enjoyable physically holding her and watching her every expression. One thing I most certainly do not miss about my last couple weeks of pregnancy are swollen ankles. My ankles were so swollen I literally fit into only one pair of my sandals on a good day. It was a good thing I had these ankles for only two weeks but it most certainly made things hard when it came to moving. Here are my ankles the day after the move. The second are my ankles today. Needless to say, it feels great to have my body back. Please excuse my toes, I know I need a pedicure. :) Here are some cute pics of our little munchkin with her eyes open. I truly can't get enough of her little face.

Baby Leah

Baby Leah has finally arrived! Leah Michelle Thompson was born on May 24th at 12:00 a.m. She weighed....are you ready for this... 9 lbs. and 15 oz. and was 22 inches long! What a big and healthy baby she is and we love every little roll she has to offer. She was 10 days early so could you imagine how big she would have been if I actually had her on my due date?! I figured my odds were not great since I weighed 10 lbs 11 0z at birth and my husband was 9 lbs 10 oz at birth. I have always said that I would not mind having a big baby so long as I can get her out ok and it could not have worked out any better. I basically started having contractions Sunday morning around 7:30 and they were about 6 minutes apart. I felt like that was good enough, so off to the hospital we went around 9:30. After a few hours of monitoring they admitted me, I quickly got the epidural and basically waited. At about fifteen to midnight the midwife came in and told me we were ready. Eleven minutes later, exactly at midnight little Leah was here. Aside from the labor lasting all day, I really have no complaints. She is beautiful and healthy and we are thrilled to be her parents. We are so grateful to our Heavenly Father for sending us this sweet bundle of joy!
Her first bath
I absolutely love these cheeks!
Dad is exhausted! Poor thing. No really, even though they don't experience labor they still go through the emotions.

We finally did it....

To be quite honest, I'm not sure how good I will be at keeping up on this blog thing. Especially when my first attempt at starting a blog was in December of 07 and I am just now posting something since then. I will certainly do my best. When I first started the blog then I had soon realized that dental hygiene school and commercial property appraisals could not be that interesting, hence the reason for no further posts. Now that Andrew and I are expecting our first in early June, I feel it is only fair for those who live far away to feel connected and updated.

Well, just to give a little background, Andrew and I have been living in Sacramento now for three years and although we love it, we still have a longing for home. We are expecting our first, a little girl, on June 3rd. So far the pregnancy has been pretty good. For the first 15 weeks or so I was pretty sick and probably threw up about every other day. It is amazing how fast I have already forgotten that part as I now get to enjoy her kicks, twists and turns. Thats not to say that this part is oh so easy when I'm finding it hard to sleep at night. I also always used to tell Andrew, "Honey, when I'm pregnant I'm not going to be one of those girls who complains about being FAT when I'm PREGNANT." Eventhough I don't complain about being fat, I'm definitely not one of those girls who gloats about her pregnant belly. Especially since whenever I tell someone I have two months left, their expression always seems to imply that I look like I should be having the baby next week. :) All in all, being pregnant really is an indescribable feeling and I truly enjoy all the positive aspects it has to offer!
